So much for updating every day.

Here's some early sketches from my next planned film, "Commercial Art". Here is the protagonist. There's stuff I like and stuff I don't so far, but I'll wait to see what people say so as to not bias you all with my own preconceptions, and get an honest opinion.

The horse is totally textured, and I finished a gallop for him, it just sucks a lot. I'm trying to make it better but it just keeps getting worse. I'll post it when it doesn't suck so much.

Horse post VI: I can't finish anything

OK. I hadn't even finished UV-mapping this guy when I had to rig him and do a little test to see if my rig's any good at all. So far it looks alright- the knee moves when I move the knee, the hoof moves when I move the hoof. So pretty good so far. But where did my shadow go? I'll fix that by the time I post next... I think I was out sick that day in 3D max class. I think it's like the 7 times tables- I never really learned them properly after I was out sick that day. So I followed a UV mapping tutorial I found on http://www.elysium.com. The tutorial as I have it saved doesn't list an author, so if you're the author and these are your textures, I apologize, I would credit you if I knew who you were.

Also I got lazy on the ground because I didn't want to find a good dirt texture. Ah well. Just wanted to do this to learn UV mapping, so I could apply textures to my horsey. If I manage to start doing that today, I might post again!

Horse post III

OK, so just so I ( and you) could see what it looks like, I mirrored the first half of the horse I've been working on. I still need to work on the head area, and especially around the eye, and I need to work on defining the joints in the legs, but overall I'm pretty happy with how it's turning out. It certainly looks more like a horse than like anything else, and that's definitely a good thing.

I'm going to try to have the modeling done and the texturing started by Friday, so that next week I can start adding a skeleton. This guy's definitely getting animated... If I can figure that part out!

Burlesque Drawing II

Two more from Burlesque drawing.
Might post again later today.

Burlesque Drawing

I think 6 drawings will cover nicely the fact that I didn't post anything yesterday. Went to burlesque drawing with Cynthea, Christi, and Nelson. Cynthea's got some very nice drawings on her blog. I never really got into a groove... We got there late, I didn't get to do any warm-up drawings, really. I was sitting on the floor and uncomfortable, and the photographer kept sitting down right in front of me so that I couldn't see the model. Plus, I haven't drawn in _forever_, and that didn't help. It was a little frustrating but next time I think I'll try to reserve a table, and get there on time, and maybe it will go better.

Oh well. Here's some drawings anyway- enjoy! More tomorrow, I'm just done with scanning today.

Horse- more progress

Worked some more on my horse... This is my drawing/3d/flash/programming/whatever blog. I'm going to try to post something every day, but don't expect to make any sense out of it. I'm trying to teach myself a whole bunch of stuff right now, and I have the attention span of a fruit fly, so if I feel like doing 3D... that's what you're getting. If I feel like animating stuff, that's what you'll get. So there.

Here's a horsey. It's half a horse, because in 3D, if you have something that's symmetrical, it's easier to model half of it and then mirror it, rather than making sure both sides are exactly the same throughout the modeling process. It's very much in progress... But it looks more like a horse than like a box, which is my plan at this stage of the game.

I'm still messing with the settings so if it's screwed up for anyone, tell me and I'll try to fix it.

HORSEY!!
